Careers at Alltranz Ltd

Careers at Alltranz Ltd start in Daventry. We are a family-run removals firm based at Long March Industrial Estate, and we have been moving people, businesses and entire warehouses across Northamptonshire and the rest of the country for 20+ years. The work is varied. One day you might be on a house move two streets from the depot, the next a European job heading down to France, and the week after on an office relocation or a delicate piano removal. No two days look the same, and that is half the appeal of removals jobs in Daventry with us.
We are not a man-and-van operation. We are a Road Haulage Association member, we hold an International CPC and a Waste Carriers Licence, we run our own containerised storage on site, and we are members of Move Assured and the Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce. The "tranz" in the name reflects the haulage side of the business. We do removals, but we also have genuine logistics depth, and we hire with that mix in mind.

About working at Alltranz

Alltranz has been running for over two decades, and a lot of the team have been with us for years rather than months. We bring people up rather than burn them out. New starters typically come in as removal operatives, work alongside an experienced crew, and pick up the trade on real jobs. From there the path is straightforward for the people who want it: removal operative, then crew lead running a van and a job from start to finish, then on to a Class 2 driver's licence funded through the company for the right candidate.

Training is on the job and continuous. You learn how to load a van so nothing shifts on the M1, how to wrap a piano properly, how to read a building's access points before the ramp comes off the tail-lift, and how to talk to a customer on the worst day of their year. Approachability matters as much as muscle. We tell our customers they are dealing with a person and not a job title, and we hire to that standard.

What we look for in a team member

Honest, responsible attitude to other people's property. Most of our work is in someone's home, and that trust is non-negotiable.
Friendly manner and good communication. The customer should feel calmer once you have walked through the door, not more anxious.
Works well in a team. A removal is a four-person ballet for eight hours. The team that talks moves the house.
Full UK driving licence. Class 2 is a bonus and we will support the right person through the licence, but it is not essential for every role.
Reliable time-keeping. Crews leave the depot at a set time, and a missing pair of hands holds up the whole job.
Problem solver. Every move has the moment where the sofa will not go up the stairs the obvious way. The good operatives have already worked out the second route.

Removals jobs in Daventry, day to day

Most jobs start at our depot on Long March Industrial Estate. The crew loads vans, blankets and the right kit for the day, runs through the job sheet, and rolls out. A typical week mixes local Northamptonshire moves, a national long-distance, a packing day or two, and the occasional run to Europe. We carry pianos, archive boxes, full warehouses and the contents of family homes that have been lived in for forty years. The variety is the part most of our team mention when we ask why they have stayed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are you hiring removals operatives in Daventry right now?
A: Vacancies come and go through the year, and the page above shows whether anything is currently open. Even when nothing is listed, we keep applications on file and reach out when a slot opens up. Send your details through the form and we will be in touch when we have something that fits.

Q: Do I need a Class 2 driving licence to work for Alltranz?
A: A full UK driving licence is the baseline for most roles. Class 2 is a bonus rather than a requirement on day one, and for the right candidate we will support the licence through the company further down the line. Plenty of our drivers came in on a standard licence and worked up.

Q: What's the typical progression for a new starter?
A: New starters usually join as removal operatives and run jobs alongside an experienced crew. From there the standard route is to crew lead, taking responsibility for a van and a job from start to finish, and then on to a Class 2 driver. The pace is up to you, but the path is real and people on it now have walked it themselves.

Q: What kind of training do you offer?
A: Most of our training is on the job. You learn the trade by doing the trade, with experienced operatives and crew leads alongside you. We add formal training where it matters: manual handling, piano work, vehicle checks, and the Class 2 licence pathway for drivers. We are an RHA member, we hold an International CPC, and we take training seriously because the standard of the work depends on it.
